Only 11 days until the AP World Exam, Nervous!

I don't know if I'm going to be prepared...

My teacher is making us stay for 4 hours after school all this week to review, and I'm reading the Princeton Review. Along with a practice test next Saturday. I'll also be studying some cram packets he gave us. Is that enough?

For those who took it, how did you prepare? What did you get? Was it easy? I did the essays from every AP World Exam, so i know what they're like.

My only advice could be know everything that ever happened–ever.

Sorry, bro. I have no clue. I haven’t taken AP World yet. I’m only a freshman. But maybe this will bump your post up and it could get some more responses.

I’m taking preib world 2 which I think is essentially the same… If you need any help, I could probably help you out. I have a photographic memory so history is a breeze for me ;)

Can you explain ancient Africa? I honestly don’t know all that much about it. I know a lot more after Europeans came into Africa.

Sure thing! What specifically do you want to know?

Actually, not ancient. But Africa in the post-classical era. Like Kingdoms, and what not. Details about them. I don’t really know any.

You can find most of this online. N Africa was influenced by the Muslims. Look at Ghana, Mali, and Songhay. Know about the southward Bantu migration that was caused by the adoption of Islam. And know about the coastal cities that traded with the Muslims. This is very basic- I definitely didn’t cover everything. But these are the most important things you’ll need to know. You probably won’t need to know a whole lot about Africa at that time anyway.

Did you take AP world, or taking it now?

I’m taking it this year, so I’ll be taking the AP exam next Thursday too.

Is there anything you don’t know much about? Like for me, thats all I’m really weak on. Do you know little tiny details of every major theme?

Yes. I swear I know this subject backward and forward. At my school we have an insane teacher who tortures us with piles of work. Only like two dozen kids take his class each year because everyone else is afraid to. College kids come back saying that it is harder than any of their college courses. BUT. Literally 100% of his students get 5s each year.

Like what work, how much? i think our teachers pushes all 9 of us A LOT.

Ah sorry I haven’t been on here in a few days!! And sorry I assumed you were taking the same world as me… But we aren’t… Sorry): there’s a ton of stuff online but if you still need anything I have some knowledge about that stuff.

I took it last year. Teacher sucked, gave us a ton of work, her tests were ridiculously hard, I reviewed a cram packet and 5 Steps to a 5, found the exam to be pretty challenging, and got a 4 (probably because I think I did pretty good on the essays. Most of the MC questions produced a “wth?” response).

The exam definitely isn’t easy. If you want to guarantee a 5, you pretty much do need to know everything about everything. Otherwise, just hope the essays are on topics you’re familiar with, and that’s where you’ll get your points.

I thought the AP World exam was very easy… I had a teacher that didn’t teach, just assigned notes and gave an exam every week until the AP exam. I didn’t really study too much, just vocab. I got a 5. If you’ve read the text book and can talk about the development/interaction of cultures in Europe, Asia, and Africa, you’ll be fine. Besides, the DBQ is basically a bunch of free points.

We do tons of charts, timelines, practice tests and essays, everything. I spend my entire weeknight working for that class.
Actually, I have always found the DBQ to be the hardest essay because I tend to freak out about time and then just write down whatever pops into my head. Haha. But I rock the CCOT and C/C essays.

Do ya’ll have any essay predictions? My teacher thinks Latin America…

i got a C in the class and i didn’t really study untill one month before the exam. i read two review books very closely and memorized this 500 flash card set that i bought at boarders. on the day of the test, i didn’t even do the last essay and felt groggy through the whole thing and i still got a 3. thats’ not that good but it shows that it is pretty easy…
