Only 2 SAT test dates before EA

Hey guys,

I'm worried by the fact that there are only two SAT test dates left for EA. I've taken the SAT once and was very unhappy with my score (definitely not going to use it). I've taken the ACT and got a 34 (8 on essay). I haven't taken any subject tests. I'm thinking about applying to Yale SCEA but I'm not sure i'll get the scores I need in time. I'm worried because if I take the SAT I on one date, and then the subject tests on another, I won't have time to redo them if i screw up. Should I just retake the ACT again, and hope for a 36, and leave both dates for subject tests? Should I take the subject tests first and see if i need to take them again, then sign up for SAT I? (Will I have time to register after scores come out?) HELP!

Also, do I need a humanities SAT II? I've heard it's really not necessary. Right now, I'm thinking about Math II, Biology, Chemistry, or if I need a humanities, Lit instead of Biology. (I've actually heard if I submit ACT, I don't need subject tests?)

Thanks!

When applying to Yale it is SAT + subject test OR ACT with writing

your ACT score puts you in the 3rd quartile of applicants already so i think your fine as is BUT you might want to consider ACT once more and the SAT + Subject tests each once. Even if you screw up your scores now are fine with perhaps the exception of your 8 essay score which you might want to bring up. plus if you apply EA your chances are right around 18%

good luck to you sir

As noted for Yale you need subject tests only if relying on the SAT. There are actually three dates left to take SAT or SAT subject tests for EA at Yale if you count June 4 (Yale accepts through Nov tests for EA).

If you submit subject tests you need two in any subjects, humanities is not necessary.
