ONLY 2 writing questions =)

hey guys i usually ask for like 5 or 6 questions, but i’ve improved recently, so I only need help on 2 =p

Although he played a leading role in planning spacecraft expeditions, Dr. Carl Sagan refused to accept praise for the plans “he designed nor otherwise profiting” from later advancements in space exploration.

a) designed nor otherwise profiting
B) had designed nor otherwise did he profit
C) has designed nor otherwise to have profited
D) designed or otherwise profited
E) had designed or otherwise to profit

why is it E? i really don’t know why

Paradoxically, one way that shakespeare transcended his era was because of having included in his plays.

“because of having included it” is wrong

it should be

“by including it”

but can’t “when he included it” work 2?

thanks

since all the "otherwise"s are in the same place, you can take it out to make the snetence a bit clearer.

Obviously, he “had designed” is right. Then there is a parallel structure between “to accept” and “to profit”. So, E is correct.

I thought about this for a long time, probably wouldnt get this under time pressure.

Yes,the first sentence lacks parallelism - to accept praise xxxxxxxxxxx or to profit

oh kk thanks
wut bout number 2?
