Only 2 years of foreign languages - will it hurt my chances?

Im going to be a senior this year in high school, and stopped taking French after sophomore year.

Im not a slacker student - Ive taken 3 - 5 AP classes every year, with some good extra curricular activities, and any class Im not taking the AP level in, Im at least one year ahead of the average kid in my class (i.e. sophomores usually take geometry in sophomore year, I took algebra 2).

Anyway, will only taking 2 foreign language classes hurt my chances at getting into some mid - upper tier schools like BU, Northeastern, GW, UMD, and BC

I didn't just drop them for weak classes like study hall or yearbook - Junior year I dropped foreign language for Ap Econ, since Im planning on majoring in business, and Senior year Im taking Ap Psychology where my language would be.

I was taking French level 2 (not Ap or honors), so Im hoping it might look favorable, especially since AP Econ is in the field of my (hope to be) major.

Will this hurt my college admission chances?

The only people who can answer your question are the admissions committees at those schools, none of whom frequent this board. That said, one would think that when a college recommends 4 years of a language, it will factor into decisions. But why worry about it, since there’s nothing you can do about it at this point anyway?

At these schools, no.

You can look up the number of years of foreign language each school recommends you to have taken on the CollegeBoard college search website.

2 years would be fine for every school except the Ivies + Stanford + MIT et al schools of those caliber.

However, note that many schools’ foreign language requirements for graduation are higher than their foreign language requirements for admission.
