Hello,
I’m currently in my senior year of HS, but am worried that my schedule isn’t rigorous enough, that I might not have enough classes, etc.
I’m signed up to take AP Government/AP Macroeconomics (0.5 credits each), AP English Literature, AP Calc AB, Physics Honors, and an honors programming elective.
Are 5 classes too little in the eyes of admission officers? If so, are there other classes that I should be taking to fill up my schedule?
It depends both on what the college is looking for AND what is “normal” for your high school.
If six periods a day (including lunch) is normal, and you’re taking five academics (and have been all along), you’re fine.
If eight or nine periods a day is the way your school is set up, and you’ve been taking seven or eight for the past three years, but you’re only taking five this year, yes, your schedule risks looking a bit less rigorous. The exception might be if you have an outside internship, work study, or DE classes at a nearby college in addition to the five.
@Groundwork2022 Thank you for the information!
