Only a Sophmore but wondering about OSU chances

I am a sophomore in a private school that is above normal standards who is just finishing his midterms. So far my gpa is around a 3.26 because I did bad freshman year but my mom was also fighting cancer that year until it was removed the summer before 10th grade. I am planning on trying really hard to try to bump it up to around 4.4-4.5. I do Football and Track along with 45 hours of community service so far because I helped rebuild New Orleans after Katrina. I am planning on taking AP Chinese and AP history next year along with joining some clubs. I also have lived in Ohio my entire life and live very close to the OSU campus.

It's difficult to say for certain, since you haven't taken the ACT or SAT and still have another 1.5 years to go, but if you continue down the path you've set then you will probably get in. Raise your gpa, get at least a 26 on the ACT, and do some good extras, and I would say you have a good chance based on OSU's profile. Still, it's hard to say right now.

I agree that it's difficult to say now. However, you look like you're on a good track. Study for the ACT/SATs and keep up your involvement.

Thank you, I was just curious because I see alot of people saying you need a 3.6 but I know people who got in with a 3.3/3.4. I was just getting a little bit nervous. Thank you though.

GPA matters but you can make up for it with school/community involvement along with strong standardized test scores. Just keep working hard and enjoy high school!

Ohio State is doing a much better job now than in years past when it comes to admissions in regards to looking at the applicant from all perspectives - and not just numbers...
