Won't they get your sat scores when you report your SAT II's?

I'll write down my SAT IIs. I dont know if they'll check my SAT I.

they will.

i have a 1200 SAT Score. 32 ACT . Hopefully raise to a 34.
If I DO Have a 34. They stilll look down on me (because i did NOT submit a SAT)

should i still submit my 1200?

(I dont kno if it makes a difference but) If your from the Midwest, I think it'll be fine that you only submit your ACT cause some people only take the ACT here. If they get your SAT (which i dont kno if they do), it may be a problem.

You don't have a choice to submit your SAT I scores.

Your SAT I scores will show up on the score report when you submit SATII because collegeboard sends both of them TOGETHER.

They might not look at SAT score seeing how it is the old one. I would try taking the new ones and seeing if you can improve.

they get it but i dont think it will be a problem since i believe theyre supposed to disregard it

You also won't be looked down upon if you send ACT instead of SAT scores. They dont [shouldn't] discriminate between the two.

what do u mean "colegeboard sends the scores?"

when?
i did NOTtell colelgeboard the schools to send SATs to

so, they only automatically send them to the ones i apply to when adcoms look at my app?

You choose where collegeboard sends your scores. But if you choose to send SAT II scores with your ACT scores, they will recieve your SAT I scores also because it is included with your SATII scores on the same sheet of paper.

Whether or not they consider them is sketchy.

ah, i c. thanks

are you sure they "[shouldn't] discriminate between the two." and "theyre supposed to disregard it"?

I read an article in the NY Times or W.Post that schools consider one or both but the ACT stands on it's own. Most colleges consider it a better judge of your knowledge. When I was visiting Wesleyan they said that was why they needed 3 subject tests with the old SAT but only the ACT with writing. It wasn't complete. Also, if a student takes the SAT 4 times and improves, they see all of them and don't seem to judge that they were prepping like crazy. One last note is that the ACT is sent with your permission unlike the SAT so you can take it twice and pick your best score.

If a college requires SAT II's, then when you request the College Board to send your official SAT II scores to it, the College Board automatically sends all your SAT and SAT II scores it has for you. Moreover, many high schools stick all your test scores on your official high school transcript (ACT, SAT, SAT II's).

In considering the ACT v SAT, colleges, for admission purposes, will rely on that score they believe is the higher of the two.

Only about 50 colleges in the US actually require SAT II's. Also, a number of those will take the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT II's, examples: Yale, Penn, Brown, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Pomona, Tufts, Wellesley, Williams, Boston College, Amherst, Vassar.

Also note for 2006 admissions, a number of colleges will not even accept the old SAT and thus that 1200 would be ignored even if it was the only score you sent; moreover, if you submit the ACT, they may require the new ACT with its writing section. You should check the rules for each college to which you intend to apply.

Will colleges require SAT IIs if you take the new SAT? (regarding previous colleges that required SAT & SAT IIs)

All colleges have different requirements. Some require SAT IIs no matter what. Some require SAT I with SAT IIs OR the ACT with no SAT IIs. Others will take the SAT I or the ACT but still require SAT IIs (Like the entire University of California system.)

If you don't need to send SAT IIs to schools, and you ACT is way better, don't send any SAT scores. Almost all schools accept either the SAT or ACT on equal footing. Some schools prefer one over the other, but they will tell you on their website or in the application material. Another good resource for test requirements is the Common Application (www.commonapp.org) which lists, mostly accurately. requirements for participating common app schools.

As drusba says, check with the schools you're interested in to see what they require. Send what you have to, but only send additional info if it puts you in a good light.

Thanks pete.
