Only finishing about half of pre reqs before applying?

Hey guys I plan to apply for UCLA this year under BizEcon and was wondering how the decisions are made about applicants? I will finish all of my major pre reqs / igetc by spring 2014 but have only completed 3/7 pre reqs thus far with a 3.96 gpa. Will this hurt my chances compared to someone who may have finished all the major pre reqs already? Will UCLA be able to see my fall grades on the application? Lastly, since UC's only take transferable courses, will they take out non transferable classes before counting the cumulative GPA? Thanks for any helpful responses!

You don’t have a chance in hell bro

Biz econ is extremely impacted. If you don’t finish all the prerequisites, you most likely won’t get in.

I need to finish ALL prerequistes before even applying for admission? I will finish all prereqs by Spring 2014. (Just to clarify I am applying during Fall 2013 and transfering Fall 2014)

oh, if you’re going to finish them by Spring 2014, you should be fine.

EDIT: I just read your post and you explain it. Sorry, I just skimmed your post and gave you a half-ass answer.

Business Econ is hell to apply to…they had 1,874 transfer applicants in 2012 and only 335 were accepted with an average GPA of 3.92 (which you have so yay!)

But, you should consider looking into your CC’s TAP program…since you have the option to choose an alternative major if not accepted to this one. Plus, higher percent chance of being accepted right?

Would there be any advantage for completing all the prerequisites before applying to UCLA? If not, then isn’t it possible to take all general classes for a 4.0 and take the prequisites your second year?

If you are finding the pre-reqs to seem challenging, I would definitely do a mixture of pre-reqs amidst “easier” GE classes. You know your limits best- but don’t make the move of having your last semester packed with challenging pre-reqs that you wanted to avoid before for GPA inflation.

When admitted, for Spring semester you usually must earn a “B”* grade in all pre-reqs left to be completed, and a certain overall GPA.
*Depending on school and major

I guess I am just wondering if “hard” or “easy” classes are taken into account by the UCLA staff. I will be starting the calc series and two other major pre reqs during the fall. Do you think this will be taken into consideration as well? (Fall grades will come after the application process). Thanks for all the responses so far

In January, you have to submit a TAU (Transfer Application Update) to let all the UCs you applied to in November know your fall grades. So yeah, they will see your fall grades.
