Can there be more than one student getting accepted into a US public university ranked in the top 70, 4-year universities?

from the same school?

Yes. One student per school is an urban legend.

Absolutely, more than one student per high school, get accepted to a given college, when the college wants those students. There is no official quota as to what the limit is per high school. I see many high school lists showing a number of kids going to the same college.

It is possible at the very extreme end, that admissions for those at a given high school can be affected, if a huge number of students from the same high school apply to the same small college. What the tipping point is for which colleges, or if there is indeed any such thing, I don’t know. But I’ve seen over 10% of my son’s school’s graduating classes get accepted to a certain small LAC. I ;ve seen droves of students getting accepted to same school that is larger. Not unusual for half a class or more all accepted to a state u.

thanks! :)
