Decision: Admit

Stats:
[I find it funny that you guys here at CC put SAT before GPA. You must be sad, lonely, people lol]
• SAT I : 800M, 730V
• SAT II : 800 math2c, 800 writing, 790 chem, 800 bio
• GPA : Our school does GPAs really strange, but I get all As and A+s
• Rank : School doesnot rank
• AP scores: Fives on BC, Bio, Euro, US, CompSci and four on Lang. Taking 6 this year.

Subjective:
• Essay: This piece was about my interaction with my aunt who has bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. I discuss how my relationship with her inspired me to become a medical researcher. I tied it into MIT's motto, mens et manus
• Teacher Recs: My physics teacher knows me really well, thought I was funny, and is my advisor for my independent study. My French teacher coordinated my research project.
• Counselor Rec: My counselor is also my history teacher. We got along really well.
• Hook (if any): really deep focus with biological research, creative writing.

Location/Person:
• State or Country: Kansas -- ha ha
• School Type: private
• Ethnicity: caucasian
• Gender: male

Other Factors:
• I'm really big with science olympiad and science bowl. We go to nationals in both, and I have national medals.
• Really good interview -- I think it was 4 hours long. She was an author so I had a chance to talk about my writing and the manuscript I have. This conversation, I think, revealed to her that I was creative and fun.
• Won a trip to Canada to study French.

Decision:Accepted

[]Other stats:
[/ul]
Subjective:
[ul]
[]Essays: Fairly informal essays that I didn't really think about using "good" formal formatting, but I just told about myself.
[]Teacher Recs: VERY good recommendations. These probably had the most impact on getting me accepted.
[]Counselor Rec: I didn't get to read it.
[]Hook (if any): Lived in Sweden when I was young. Having a Swedish father and Native American mother. Something like that.
[/ul]
Location/Person:

[]State or Country: Oklahoma
[]School Type: Public (260ish people in my class)
[]Ethnicity: White/Native American(1/4 + 1/16)
[]Gender: Male
[/ul]
Other Factors:
[ul]
[]I didn't really have any "leadership" positions and the only clubs I was in were band(although that isn't really a club), math club, and the rocket team.
[li]My interview went fairly well.[/li][/ul]

General Comments: I think being from Oklahoma and having Native American blood might have had an affect since there are a lot people that were deferred with better "paper" credentials than I have.

Decision: Deferred

that or we're following the given format. don't be so quick to judge :) what with this entire process, the one thing learned should be that few people are well-represented on paper.
