Err, I hate to say this, but you don't have a chance at any of these schools.

Any other advice? And just so anyone who reads this knows, I am well within range in terms of scores for quite a few UCONN? yes, its not going to be that hard, and UCR is an automatic because of 90% acceptance, there are some obvious reaches but to say that shows a lack of research on these schools again,

if you answer, please state the context in which you say these things

I'm not sure if you meant to do so, but your post comes off as quite condescending. Your second sentence could not be further from the truth. (by the way, you should put a punctuation at the end)

I am a high school student, and my uncle is an admissions officer, so I do know quite a bit about college admissions. In fact, the vast majority of high school students on this forum probably knows a thing or two about college admissions, as well.

no no, please dont think of my response as condescending. I dont mean to be, I'm just making a point. There are some schools here I have a great shot at, and I have been told this by counselors and former college adcoms who know the system. And the prob is you may have an uncle but you are still in high school and you have not sat in a room making admissions decisions. Neither have I so dont be offended. What I guess I am looking for is an educated response from an actual adcom, because I know they are on collegeconfidential. dont take offense, im just being honest

dude a 720 + 650 + 720 does not equal 2190.........

oh yes i see, i saw that math error

i hope you get my point, please dont focus on grammar and math, im trying to make a point, lets not be immature here....I am not going to comment on the grammar errors you made, its childish

Perhaps you aren't trying to be condescending, but we're just saying that that's how you're coming off. Perhaps you could have said, "May an adcom look over this thread?"
Instead of blatantly and rashly capitalizing "YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT COLLEGE ADMISSIONS"

It just seems a bit disrespectful and rather childish.

Penn State, UConn, UCR, BU, Illi, IU are all matches.

The rest are reaches.

P.S. I'm a high school senior.

Actually, high school seniors have done more research (except their moms) than most people about college admissions, and have studied the requirements, and so they CAN be helpful if they are familiar with the schools.

My impression was that Emory wants 3.8 GPA. I'll have to re-post when I see your college list again.

I'm a mom with a senior. I haven't done anything like the research of others. My d has some stats similar to yours.

Cornell, Emory(Goizueta Biz), NYU(stern), Carnegie Mellon(tepper), Syracuse, Boston U, Indiana U(Kelley), Illinois Urbana, UCONN, Penn State, UCR, UCLA, UCI, USC(Marshall)

Gosh, your GPA is going to sink you. Your SATs are okay. I have my doubts about Cornell, somehow I think your GPA is too low. I've picked up an impression that Ill. U. is also going to be out of reach. That is one high-ranking and popular college these days. Definitely ditto on UCLA--that GPA again.

I've focused on the GPA as my own d's is low, too, although not quite as low as yours. Believe it or not, a GPA of 3.2, which I would once have regarded as respectable, just isn't anymore due to having so many seniors going to college these days, as well as having a lot of people who are high school seniors this year.

For the state u's that you are applying to, my understanding it that they are focused mostly on your GPA and SATs. I surely would think you'd make it into UConn if you are in-state. OOS applications to state colleges are more iffy, is the impression I have picked up from reading on this website over the past year and a half.

Do add to your college list by picking one guaranteed-admission safety that you would be okay about attending, just to be on the safe side. Prudence is important these days.

I am a HS senior and I do somethings about admissons. Like I know you have no chance at
Cornell , Emory(Goizueta Biz), NYU(stern), Carnegie Mellon(tepper)

The fact of the matter is that many high school seniors DO know a lot about admissions. We may not be the ones making the decision, but this is College Confidential: The vast majority of students on this website have been researching schools since their freshman and sophomore years. Kids on this forum are not your average-joe high-schooler, most of them know what they're talking about.

I'm thinking that maybe in the past few months you've been told by a high-schooler that you hardly stand a shot at Cornell, Emory, UCLA, NYU Stern or Carnegie Mellon, and are maybe feeling a little angsty about that. I don't want to be harsh, but when you make such brash postings, you're asking for it.

yeah, don't be so rude if you're going to be ASKING for advice...

with a 3.3 gpa, Cornell, Emory(Goizueta Biz), NYU(stern), Carnegie Mellon(tepper) are pretty much reaches.

ps, i hope u dont act like a jerk in your interviews

ok, sorry if i have offended anyone...it comes from me being to stressed out and desperate for answers that i can't always get. I apologize to all of you and for the record I am not a jerk, I actually am a nice person :) sometimes this college thing jsut gets the best of me, and it doesnt help that my stats are not as desirable as I want them to be.

If any of you who responded want to chance me or anyone else interested, please do so. I just want some opinions and I WILL CHANCE BACK

please guys, i do need the help

Do you know your UC GPA?

mom of an '12 grad who got in 5 of 6 UC's; UCLA was the one school of 15 that she didn't get in to. I don't think that option is looking good.

P.S My opinion that all this chancin' stuff is pretty irrelevant....

thanks for helping, and i do know it

3.52 for all ucs
3.62 for Berkeley and LA (not sure why, youre supposed to add a point)

any thoughts?

Well I'm sure you've seen this already.

UCLA Undergrad Admissions: Profile of Admitted Freshmen, Fall 2008

Says 2.53% of UCLA applicants with weighted gpa 3.30 - 3.69 where admitted. 8.47% for your weighted GPA.

OTOH, 65% admitted with your composite SAT.

OTOH, ny D had similar SATS, better GPA, and was NOT admitted to UCLA. And URM, FWI (not) W.
