Only sent 2 SAT IIs and no email

I only sent 2 SAT IIs ( 800 chem and 750 math 2) to Harvard. They still haven't emailed me saying that they want a 3rd SAT II. Does this mean that I'm fine with just 2 SAT IIs?

No.

Harvard requires three SAT subject tests. They clearly state this in their application instructions.

You application is incomplete and this late in the admission process you probably cannot do anything about it. I suggest calling them, but I’m afraid you might be out of luck.

I took a 3rd SAT II in January, Physics, and got a 650 (OUCH); I’m afraid that if I send this in, I would get automatically rejected.

I would think you are more likely to get rejected for not completeing the application than for one below par test score.

Check your application status online. If it says incomplete under reguirements then they still need your tests.

exactly Jessephen…

rjacob -
One of the application requirements is that you MUST submit 3 subject test scores. At this point, you would be submitting so late that it probably will not make a difference. You’re probably completely out of luck.

The best thing to do is to call and explain the situation - you took the third test but the score was not sent. It may be too late at this point, but they may allow you to send the score in late.

Call ASAP and ask.

Is Harvard your first choice? If so, why didn’t you read all the application instructions?

I am getting an impression that rjacob may have known when he got the January Physics results that he was supposed to send them to Harvard but “if I send this in, I would get automatically rejected” and has been dragging his feet trying to figure out what to do.

I mean why did he take a third test in January after getting an 800 and a 750 on his first two if he thought that he only needed two.

Anyhow, three are REQUIRED to apply. Not sending the third SAT II makes the application as incomplete as your not answering required questions on the application. I don’t think they are going to chase you down if you neglect to follow instructions. They contact you when things that are out of your control like teacher rec or transcripts fail to show up.

I just logged into my Harvard account. Under ‘‘Requirements’’, it says all required documents have been received.

I browsed through the Harvard Calss of 2012 decisions thread and a few people with just 2 SAT IIs actually got accepted.

You should call. If Harvard is your first choice and you really are passionate about the school, you should go out of your way to make sure that all your required materials have been received by the school.

Three are REQUIRED, so I am shocked that some students were accepted with only 2 subject tests. I honestly question their honesty, but I’m sure that it has happened before.

You should send the third test score to them immediately, and contact them over the phone ASAP.

Lol you didn’t send in the third score, which they say they require, because it was a 650?

I sent in a 620. Don’t be afraid, send it in

uhhhh… you definitely can do something about it. It literally takes 3 seconds to update someone’s file and 1 SAT2 score is not going to be the difference between an acceptance and a rejection.

I believe that failing to follow directions when applying absolutely can make a difference.

Yes, he may be able to do something about it, and he should call to find out what that is.

Don’t you think that H admissions has seen this before? Especially since he sent in the other scores… I agree with Smoda61

I mean why did he take a third test in January after getting an 800 and a 750 on his first two if he thought that he only needed two.

It would be one thing if you were trying to improve the 750, but you took a different test. Send it in but I think they will see right through it.

Ridiculous, sorry, but really ridiculous . You are jeopardizing your chances to get in by withholding the score. The score itself does not jeopardize your chances anywhere near as much as not sending it does.

You have two great scores and one very good score. The admissions office does not use these as major criteria for acceptance. The admissions folks at Harvard look at the whole picture.

Call them, tell them you made a mistake or something, and ask if it is too late for them to get the score. Call College Board and pay to expedite the online sending of the score, if possible.

and when all else fails, blame it on collegeboard.

are we now encouraging dishonesty?

apparently
