I'm a junior right now and I'm looking at HYPS, Dartmouth, and Duke and Emory down South for regular decision. I realise that there are only 2 more SAT testing dates this year (not including June 2nd, that is) and that taking many SAT IIs (with good scores) is an integral part of boosting the college app process.

So I was wondering whether it would be better to take 6 more SAT IIs and 1 ACT or retake the SAT I (1st time score was not so great), take 3 SAT IIs and 1 ACT?

To keep in mind, I've done consistently well on the ACT (>=33) on practice tests but I usually do very poorly on the SAT I at least comparatively.

There's no problem in submitting ACT but no SAT I.

I'm planning to do the same. I was initially nervous as well, since everyone around me seemed to only take the SAT I. 33+ is excellent.

Six SAT IIs? After one round of three in a row, you won't want to do it again.

Retake the SAT. Your first score was bad and they are going to see that. It is much better to have good ACT, SAT, and 3 subject tests than high ACT, and 6 subject tests, but a low SAT score. Of course this all depends on what "your not so great score" was. CC standards are quite upsurd.

I wonder if there's anyway you can submit SAT II's w/o SAT I. Especially if that SAT I is fairly old, like taken in 10th grade. I just didn't feel like taking it again.

No, the SAT I scores will still show when you send in your SAT IIs.
