I'm going to apply ED to Haverford College this fall and unfortunately my SAT and SATII scores aren't wonderful. I only have time to retake one by the application due date of November 15.

SAT I: 1400/2090 (CR-750, M-650, W-690. Only taken once)

SAT II: World History - 770, US History - 680 (Haverford requires 2)

Should I retake the SATI in October and try to raise those scores or take a few more SATIIs?

Other info:

GPA UW/W: 3.7/4.2
White Male
ECs are fine I think

Thanks in advance!

I think your stats are fine. But if you feel improvement is needed, I suggest taking one of those “real SAT” practice tests. If you score a 2190 (or higher) retake the SAT. Otherwise take a couple more SATIIs.

Thanks for the reply NewHope, I may do that.

Maybe I should give the ACT test a try once or twice and then take the SATIIs in October? Do the ACT results come promptly?

Personally, I feel like that your SATII’s are fine for Haverford, but your SAT I is a bit weaker. I’m not saying that it is bad, because it is seriously not. I would not advise doing the ACT because you have been studying so much for the SAT I that I don’t think that you would do as well on it.

But, seriously… you really don’t need to retake with those stats.

Thanks for the reply. I have been leaning towards retaking the SAT and getting my math score up. I’m not even going to major in anything close to US History so surely they wouldn’t care too much that I didn’t break 700 points right?
