Only working on one subject?

So I got my JAN sat scores back and everything was fine except for my writing score.

Is it bad to just prep for the writing section (to raise my writing score) and not prep that much for the other two sections? In other words, is it bad if my score for the other two sections go down while my writing goes up?

All schools take the best parts of each SAT sit-in. Correct?

Not all schools take the best parts. Some do, some don't. I would not take it again if the score might drop in the other two. But it depends, how bad did you do on the writing?

Don't totally blow off the other sections. Still do full practice tests so you stay sharp on those. I've read horror stories where people only focused on one or two sections for a retake and totally blew the other ones when they took the test, because they were rusty on those sections. So at least do some prep for them.

I got...

790 math
750 CR
670 Writing

bump bump and bump

What was your essay score?

What are you planning on majoring in?

Do you have a list of colleges you are applying to yet? Many still do not consider the writing score....

IMO, I would not retake for the writing score....

essay score = 10

Plan on majoring in Finance or Engineering

University of Pennsylvania, Colombia, UChicago, Northwestern (?), those type.

IMO, don't retake....Even if the schools are using the score, they are primarily using the essay...You are fine....You would basically be re-taking for 80 multiple choice grammar questions; I think you could find better use of your time.......(BTW, my d had to make a similar decision due to the writing test and we told her that to sit through a 4 hr. test for one small part was insane...If someone rejects her due to an 80 question grammar test, she doesn't belong there......Given that she had AP lang, AP lit and a 5 on the ap test).......
