Ooops... my application has inconsistencies.

I just looked over my commonapp and the resume I attached, and I realized that there are slight inconsistencies.

Like, in my resume, I wrote down that I started working at my parent's business in 2004, and in my commonapp I wrote down 2005. I'm really bad with dates, and time tends to blend together for me... I may have also gotten confused with whether I started in the winter of 2004 or if I started in the spring of 2005. You know?

And I also wrote down that I got an award in 2006 when I had actually gotten it in 2005.

Yikes!

Do you think they will think I'm a liar and then question my application because of this? Or do you think they'll understand?

Thanks!

if they even notice it, i doubt they would put it against you. mixing a couple dates around isnt a big deal at all. contrary to popular belief, the admissions staff do not automatically throw away apps with typos.

They might think it's odd if they catch it, but otherwise, they might not even notice it. Considering it's just dates (it's not as if you said you helped refugees in Africa for a year and then said you worked in the States as a cashier for Burger King) you should be fine.

Adcoms are especially not going to care about your parents' business.

I would just fax/mail them a revised version of your resume
