OOS Accepted Students from Previous Years: Post Your Stats!

I am OOS and an applicant. UCLA is my top choice but I realize that there is MUCH more competition being from oos. If you were accepted in previous years from a high school oos, what were your scores/extracurriculars/etc. ? Thank you!

there are existing threads with this same topic elsewhere. make sure you search to get a good number of existing statistics.

my stats (OOS):
One of the top 50 high schools in the US (newsweek)
UC GPA: ~3.92 UW / 4.6 W
SAT: 2170
SATII: Math-800, Physics-740

No amazing extracurriculars, decent college essays.

My stats:
3.94 UW / 4.6 W
SAT: 2080
II: 740, 660

EC: clubs, sports, the usual

Thanks, MadeInChina! I found some other threads, so thanks for letting me know. I’m actually from the DC area, too (FCPS). I hate to be score-obsessed, but what do you think about a
1960 SAT; 730 USHistory SAT II; 660 Spanish SAT II; 28 ACT; 2 AP 5’s (two tests taken) and GPA unweighted (just soph. and junior classes)=3.93. I’m Spanish Honor Society VP if they take that into any consideration.

If I’m putting you on the spot by asking you this, let me know!

thank you, hewhothrows!

ZAE - fairfax? no way hahaha. what school do you go to?

are you currently a junior or a senior? your SAT could be better and the same goes with your SAT IIs. your GPA is great and VP in a honor society will be great if you’ve displayed leadership.

i’d definitely recommend taking the SAT again if you’re a junior and getting in the 2000+ range.

edit –

and why is UCLA your top choice (just curious)? what about UVA and others?

psh! i WISH i was a junior so i could take tests over. i just wish that UCLA superscored because superscored i have a 2020. nope, i’m a senior. and i go to madison. i realize my scores are bad, but how bad are they? haha sorry to be annoying but i just want to know.

i did a summer program at UCLA (it wasn’t run by UCLA) and i loved the campus/atmosphere. i love california and i want to major in spanish so i think it would be a good place to do it. yeah, i applied to uva, w&m, duke, gw and umiami but i’m definitely not depending on either of the first three because everyone from my school is applying.

i don’t know what the average test scores are for entering (OOS) UC freshmen, but you’re test scores aren’t terrible. i’d say they’re around average? anyone have any real statistics?

MadeInChina, RM, or Wootton?

My stats:
SAT: 2100 (750 Math, 720 Writing, 630 Critical Reading)
IIs: 800 Math II, 800 Chem, 690 Biology M
UC GPA: 4.18
EC: Pretty much ran the Quizbowl club and organized a trip to the Harvard-MIT mathematics tournament. Also deeply involved (2+ hours per week, mostly more) in 5 clubs, plus Hebrew School 3 hours a week, volunteered for younger kids hebrew school 3 hours a week, and tutored calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations on a college campus as volunteer 4 hours a week.
AWARDS: Nothing major, just a few AIME invitations and local math team stuff.

Oh, and APs: I had 5 at time of application with 3 5’s (Calculus BC, Statistics, Physics), a 4 (US History) and 1 3 (English Language), and was enrolled in 4 more. I also had 4 completed college classes with 3 A’s (Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Logical and Critical Thinking) and 1 B (Multi-variable Calculus) with 2 more classes in progress.

Wootton…pretty creepy hahahahah. are you mcps too??

No way. what year did you go? I went 2005/2006 with the math team from Wootton…our team name was banana pancakes haha. What school are you from?

I was in 2007 & 2008, with Ward Melville High School, first year was boring old “Ward Melville A”, next year “Power Proof Girls” though only 1 person on the team was female. Our B team was called “Induction Junction, what’s your function”.

go to ucstatfinder and you can slice and dice admissions by campus. (Hint: you’ll need to solve for OOS by taking the total and backing out Calif residents.) Save yourself some time: the short answer is that the OOS kids are numerically similar to those instate.

Haha yes, I am. I’m a senior at Wootton right now. Thought I’d creep you out a bit =P

poisondart, are a lot of people from mont. co./your school applying to UCLA?

In past years at most 4 from my school. I think we got a lot more this year. I’m not sure about the county though

ahh. i think that will make it even more competitive.

OH WOW. i’m rooting for you to come to UCLA then. one of the best choices you’ll ever make haha.

you know any seniors who came to UCLA from last year? drake? leslie?
