what will be the estimated admission rate next year for out of staters b/c of the budget cuts? like around 35%? will it help an OOSer if you can pay full-freight?

I know for 2011 they accepted around 2900, but what was that percentage acceptance? anyone?

35% is a ridiculous figure. Although the UC system is under financial burden, its primary directive remains the admission of in-state applicants.

he said admission rate, not the total percentage of oos to is. this year the acceptance rate was 39% for OOS

next year do you think will it go up again?

It’s possible it could go up, go down, or stay the same. No one really knows. I believe for the past couple years the admit rate of OOS has indeed gone up, though. Above all, though, it’s gonna come down to you and your application essay and stats.

i think it will go down next year because of the high yield rate this year

didn’t california cut even more funds for the school this year?

^^ I agree.

I highly doubt this. That said, although the percentage of out-of-state applicants is greater than that of their in-state peers, one must consider that the former (non-residents, internationals, etc.) are generally much more competitive, i.e. they are desirable not only for their money. I assume ArKhAiK created this thread to judge his own chances; in his position I would put more stock in my personal qualifications than in admissions patterns at a school that remains highly competitive even for out-of-staters.

Here’s the link about acceptance %s: http://students.berkeley.edu/admissions/freshmen.asp

It appears my doubt was misplaced; I maintain everything after my first sentence.

^hey now, i don’t post statistics that are untrue

Whether the OOS admit rate will go up will most likely depend on the number of OOS applying.
