anyone hear yet?

We are OOS and my son found out online yesterday he's been accepted into radio/television/film. Very happy and now planning a trip to Austin as he hasn't been there yet.

Atlanticdreamer, when did your son apply?

I also applied for the radio/television/film program and am an out of state student. I know UT's out of state admission rate is extremely low, so I'm anxious about my application status!

Congratulations to your son! Austin is a wonderful city. I'm sure he'll enjoy himself during your visit. :)

He is a procrastinator and applied right at whatever the initial deadline was in January--I think it was the 15th? I then saw later that they extended it by a few days. good luck to you studentessa.

I applied like December 20th, havent heard anything yet. My application status has been the same for over 6 weeks now. My status is shown as - We've received your application and are currently reviewing it.
Its kinda bad cause i was expecting to hear. I hope i get in. Its kinda my top choice. and btw i applied for chemical engineering.
So from the above posts I think i will hear only in mid to late march :-(

my oos daughter( los angeles) applied nov. 10th. She heard this week via email that she got into the school of communication. She had a 27 act and a weighted 3.6.

We do not know too much about Texas. She also got into Maryland. Not sure waht she will do. any thoughts?

If she went to UT, would she want to rush this fall? Is this a high priority for her?

socaldad42, since you both don't know much about UT-Austin, I would suggest making a visit to see if it's comfortable for her.

Mid west mom she thinks she does want to rush. It happens as a frosh in the fall? Can you explain the process at UT?

JHb619 You are right. We are planning on visiting the end of march. We are trying to learn what we can in advance. I have been to austin twice and think it is an amazing city. We just do not know alot about the school other than what we hear about the great sports. I understand the comm. school is good, is that correct?

I just got a letter today offering $3,000 per year for 4 years + OOS tuition waiver from engineering scholarships.

I received word on Tuesday that I was awarded a 4-year Naval ROTC scholarship to UT. Unfortunately I have not been admitted to the school yet. While my stats put me in the range listed on their OOS student profile, I don't feel overly confident. On an unrelated note, how does A&M's admission compare to UT's? I received a letter today from them indicating admission.

My daughter (out of state) applied in Nov and was accepted into the McCombs business school on Monday. When I called the school in Dec, they said out of state would not hear until the end of March, April 1, we were surprised to hear before then. Good luck.

Congratulations to your daughter rdejaco@msn.com! Hope she decides to become a Longhorn in the end.

socaldad, UT is almost highly ranked in almost every major it offers based off the U.S. News so I would imagine the school of comms. to be really good.

Rushing sororities in the fall requires being on campus a week before school starts, so it is something incoming freshmen (freshwomen? :) ) need to plan ahead for. (My D is not in a sorority but several of her friends are in sororities and enjoy them.)

Congratulations athenos!

Second the congrats, athenos! My dad (a UT prof) just told me about the tuition break if you get any kind of scholarship at all. Pretty cool! I wonder if other public universities do that?

I got my engineering degrees from UT and had a wonderful experience. Good luck!

Yes, I really think I saw on the web somewhere that it is one of the regulations that apply to Texas colleges.

what is that about?

My son was accepted to McCombs last weekend! He is OOS and applied in October. No word on any scholarship yet. Any scholarship help would be great. We don't qualify for any need based, so it will be very expensive if he decides to attend.

any stats for you OOS admits?
