I'm a Georgia resident looking to pursue a true college experience. I'm interested in attending a large university; one of which has strong academics, a beautiful campus, and popular D1 athletics. It needs to have nice weather, hot women, and a good party scene. I'm well rounded and need a well rounded university.

So far I've applied to UGA, Florida, Florida State, Miami, South Carolina, Alabama, LSU, and Kennesaw State (safety). So far I've already been accepted to Alabama, LSU, and Kennesaw State.

My Problem is that I don't know how I'm going to be able to afford the costs of an OOS school. I'm planning on taking out loans but I don't want to be in debt $100,000 after I graduate college. I figure that with each school containing a large percent of OOS students, there has to be some way to to make it affordable. As UGA's in-state cost is around $20,000 a year, I'm looking for a way to recieve the college experience I want around that same price. If there are any students that are attending college oos right now on this forum, how do you make it affordable? Any advice? please help.

OOS aid is rare - OOS students are cash cows for state universities, who have to give their in-state students price breaks. But the U. of Arkansas may have what you’re looking for, and would be a good target school in terms of admissions. Their full OOS cost of tuition, room and board is in the low $20Ks.

Would you get HOPE from Georgia?

???

Are your parents going to pay the $20k and then you’re going to pay the rest with loans?

You can’t borrow much by yourself. The federal Direct loan limits for undergrads are the following amounts…

Thanks gadad, I’ll definetly look into it
mom2collegekids- yes, i will recieve hope but it only accounts for $3,500 a year. That still leaves UGA’s cost at around $16,500. I will be paying for the majority of my college costs as my parents are stuck with a loan from my father’s recently acquired masters degree and they need to provide for my two younger sisters.

If all the help you’re going to get is $3500 from Hope for a Georgia school, then you may have to go to a Georgia public that you can commute to.

You can only borrow $5500 for your freshman year. $9k ($3500+ 5500) is not enough for tuition, room, board and books.

In-state tuition and fees at UGA is about $8700 a year. HOPE will cover all but a few hundred dollars of that and will give you a few hundred dollars in a book allowance as well.
