OOS applicants

Can anyone give a rough estimate as to the percentage of out-of-state girl applicants who are admitted to W & M ?

Thanks! (:

c'mon anyonee?

I'm not sure. Its definitely the lowest chance of any category though.
But don't let that scare you; your specific qualifications are what matter most.

yeah..I'm well aware of oos girls being the most competitive category. :(
Are you currently a student there?

Yes, I'm a freshman, so everything you're going through is still quite ingrained in my mind!
OOS Students Enrolling: 33%
Female Applicants: ~66% (not sure exactly)
OOS Applications: ~66% (not sure exactly)
If those numbers are correct, and my math is correct (I'm not a math person, despite what my SATs said), that would be a 14% acceptance (or enrolling?) rate.

you can poke through the common data set here: Common Data Set

There are roughly 3500 acceptances handed out (10000 applications and a 35% acceptance rate, as guideline numbers). If 1/3 of them are out of state (assuming equal yield from out of state and in state students), that means ~1200 out of state acceptances going out, which means ~650 female OOS acceptances?

HOWEVER... I am fairly confident that the yield for instate is higher than out of state, so the 3500 acceptances are probably NOT split 2/3 in-state, 1/3 out of state, but closer to 50/50.

(this is all guesswork and should not be taken as fact)

Thanks for the link, that will be helpful!

I remember hearing it was between 10-15%.

My Ds college counselor just throws up her hands when anyone mentions W&M for OOS kids at our school. She says that it is impossible to know what they are looking for and how or why they make the decisions they do. I do know that almost every year, at least one and sometimes 2 kids from her school get accepted OOS, but they have always been boys. No one has enrolled either. I don't know if any girls have ever applied or been accepted from our school

Thanks for the link and comments everyone.
ohhh man, I'm really nervous now. =/

anyone know if they superscore the SAT?

Superscore? I know they take the highest score in each subject, regardless of when it was taken.

Thanks, that's good to know.
Now, I anxiously await the dec. sat scores. . .
