OOS Berkeley, Michigan

Does anyone know much more? less? competitive admission OOS is to Berkeley than OOS to Michigan? Thanks

I dnt know a lot about Michigan, but Cal is very difficult if you're out of state...very.

OOS to Berkeley is definitely more competitive than OOS Michigan by quite a bit. I've heard more than one story about students getting in Stanford or Harvard but not Berkeley. The problem is that Berkeley only has about 7% OOS compared to 31% for Michigan, plus Berkeley tends to be more selective as a whole anyway.

Berkeley has 7% OOS represented but don't confuse this with admission statistics. Berkeley admitted about 20% of OOS applicants for the Fall of 2006 (last year).

The acceptance gap between OOS and the CA applicants seemed to have narrowed lately. Maybe it's because the talent pool in CA is getting deeper, which makes sense since the population of the state has been growing faster than the national rate, and since a lot of the CA immigrant population is more culturally motivated to go to a top university like Berkeley.

You can compare Berkeley's OOS admissions to Harvard and Princeton. Its equally competitive
