<p>Does my low GPA freshmen year ruin me? Does it count for anything that I made massive improvement?</p>
<p>I don’t think its completely unreasonable but your grades are low and your scores are low-mid for OOS. Unless you improve them 100+ you might not have enough to overcome your low GPA/rank despite your improvement through HS. That said, UNC really wants students from underrepresented demographics. A latina friend of mine got into UNC with low test scores (1100/1600, 1700/2400 maybe) and decent grades but she was in-state. I think if you create a compelling story with your essays you have a shot. </p>
