I'd say you're in. You seem to have the whole package, including good ACTs and GPA.

You should be in with most likely merit too...don't get too excited about that UMCP is not the most generous when it comes to merit compared to some other schools. UMiami offered over 20K per yr to DS, compared to 2K per yr for Presidents scholarship. I know there are people who also got 5 and 8K, put unless you are BK start filling out FAFSA now bc you'll need @30K per yr to go from OOS

so...unknowndestiny, do you prefer florida or umdcp?

Well I have yet to visit Maryland. But UF is absolutely amazing in every way..like it's weird sense of belonging just by walking around the campus. If I am admitted to UMDCP, then I plan to visit a couple times to kinda get a feel for it in comparison.
Have you visited either?

unknowndestiny,

personally, im from florida and went to maryland, lasted a semester because of the weather. but, its the same type of school, very high rated public school with top notch academics, athletics and awesome party life. umd is uf in a more urban setting.

i visited florida in august. i really really liked it. i got that same "sense of belonging" feeling.

Bruins: What part of FLorida are you from?

You don't need to visit it a couple of times, either you will love it immediately or hate it...1 weekend visit is enough to get the feel.

Take Bruins advice, UMDCP is a more urban setting, the kids are known to get on the Metro at any given moment to go to DC...and if you hate the cold...don't even think about it...by Nov. you will be in 30 degree weather and you have the chance of snow. It is not for people who like warm weather ...esp. if you are standing out in the cold waiting for the shuttle

Perfectly said bulletandpima, the exact reason I transferred. I'm a stove, I love to absorb the heat, haha.

UnKnownDestiny, I'm from South Florida (Palm Beach County, "A" rated 171 out of 5000 public school in the nation according USNWR)

Doesn't Florida have dirt cheap in state tuition rates?

Haha true that. And I'd be getting 100% Bright Futures (if it lasts throughout my four years of college---stupid economy)
