Hey guys, I fairly recently fell in love with UMich due to their academics, sports and Ann Arbor, and it is definitely on of my top choices. I know that it is going to be a little tougher b/c I am OOS to get it, and also I heard that admission rates will be lower this year b/c they are getting so many more applicants. But please chance me!

[ *] other factors/questions: How hard will it be to get into Ross as an incoming freshman? Also, how is the financial aid at UMich?

Match for LSA, reach for pre-admit (same opinion as above)

Pretty good test scores - CR is weak, but OK if you’re not native speaker (I think)

GPA is good

Slightly weak on ECs - would prefer to see more consistency/longer memberships and some leadership especially for Ross - community service is a plus

Be sure to talk about your low income situation and the fact that you’re a first-gen college student. I would say that FA at UMich is not the best (at least from what I heard when I was a first year, which is apparently a while ago … wow I’m getting old)

Make sure you do well in your first year to secure that Ross admit second semester. Econ 101/102 can be traumatizing for some freshmen, though, so be sure you remember your AP Econ! I would say that 101/102 are harder than AP Econ.

It’s difficult to get into Ross as a freshman as well because you’re facing a lot of competition and you have to schedule yourself tough and end up with a very high GPA at the end of the semester. It’s not as difficult to get in as pre-admit though and your high school grades aren’t taken (or at least not nearly as much) into account. So it’s a good way for surefire pre-admit rejections to still have a chance.
