[ *] College (LSA, engineering, etc.): LSA Residential College
[ *] SAT: Not sending
[ *] SAT IIs (if sent): Didn't take
[ *] ACT: 32
[ *] UM unweighted GPA: Dunno how it's recalculated but its like 3.83 unweighted and 4.7 weighted, i think they throw it freshman year so if its sophomore and junior i had 4 a's 3 b's both semesters sophomore year and all a's both semesters junior year
[ *] Rank: 27/135 - In the IB program so its a much more competitive pool than a regular public high school
[ *] Other stats: IB program
[ *] Subjective (ECs, special circumstances, etc): Big Brothers, Physics Club, National Honor Society, French National Honor Society, IB Student Union Board (Kinda like student gov but more involvement in the community). Moved after freshman year from farmington hills, michigan to florida
[ *] Essays: Noticed one typo after I sent it in but other than that pretty solid
[ *] Teacher Recs: One from history who is also like the deputy chief examiner for ib higher level history, the guy writes the IB exams haha, and also one from a teacher i had at a two week program where i took a few classes on the u of m campus called summer discovery which was REALLY strong, said i wrote at a first year law student level, top 1% she's ever taught, lots of glowing praise, and then another nice one from a judge i interned for at a court in michigan for the summer
[ *] Counselor Rec: i go to see the guy paranoid all the time about college haha so he knows me pretty well, i hear he writes really good ones
[ *] Hook (legacy, recruited athlete, etc.): from michigan, wrote a lot about how i used to go to every home football game from age 5 til 15, and how we have a family alumni brick at the stadium - my grandpa, aunt, uncle and grandma (but she didnt graduate) all went to michigan
[ *) Location/Person: Palm Harbor
[ *] State or Country: Florida
[ *] School Type:Public, with an IB program and a medical magnet program
[ *] Ethnicity: White
[ *] Gender: Male
[ *] major strength/weakness: I think coming from an IB program will help and being from michigan and all the ties to the university. the only weakness im concerned about is when they recalculate the gpa and leave out my freshman year grades which were better than my sophomore year grades which were heavily influenced by the fact that i was just adjusting to the IB programs pace and the new setting in florida
[ *] Other Factors/questions: thanks guys

Alright figured it out, it's a 3.79. Freshman year I had all A's though, sophomore year 4 A's an 3 B's, and junior year all A's. Will having all A's freshman year affect at all my decision?

shifty: low match
norcal: low match

They do look at your freshman grades and consider trend, but I doubt it will affect your decision much at all.

Will the rigor of the IB program (all 7 classes are IB and all the other requirements) outweigh a slightly lower UM GPA? I mean it's not that low, but lower than some others I've seen and that's just a reflection of that it was a transition year which I alluded to in my essays.
