OOS chances? low gpa, decent sat

Just submitted my app, I chose an undeclared major and stated only pre-health sciences as a major, my stats are definitely not amazing, but I am wondering if with my SAT and decent essays can I get in?

Stats

OOS-VA
Asian (East Indian)
Public High School, Magnet Program
Class rank is also weak, 203 of 538 or 37th percentile
GPA: 3.32 W, 3.11 UW my school does not weigh any honors classes, only AP are weighted and a few magnet courses. They do this by adding a number directly onto the GPA depending on the grade you recieved in the class with A adding .0488 to a GPA and B adding .0366 and C adding .0244

Pre-HS GPA 3.5
Freshman GPA 3.3
Sophmore GPA 2.7 (ouch)
Junior GPA 3.1

yeah trend is not that good, but courseload gets better and better each year

SAT: 1970 640 M 640 R 690 W (10 Essay)
ACT: 28 (26 English 9 essay, 27 Math, 28 Reading, 31 Science)

I submitted both scores since they are fairly equivalent and have their strengths and weaknesses in each and UW asks for both scores

Taken 5 AP Classes so far, 4 more senior year, rest of courseload is honors/magnet unless that option was not available (in the cases of world history I, spanish I-IV, and pe)

AP Tests
Psychology 5 (junior)
US History 4 (junior)
European History 3 (sophmore)

Also took AP Calc AB and AP Spanish Lang test as a junior, did not score too well in test

Senior course load + first quarter grade:
AP Comp Sci A-
AP Environmental A-
AP Government A-
AP Statistics B-
Magnet Anatomy and Physiology A (weighted)
Honors English 12 B

factoring this in does raise my GPA to about 3.2 UW and 3.67 W

ECs

They only take 5 main ECs, I chose 3 that I felt I could write more indetail about each for their journal entry
Volunteering as an educator at local aquarium
Mentoring with a psychiatrist at a psychiatric ward
Guitar lessons + show + band participation

Essays are about cultural experiences + playing in a band, I feel like they came out pretty well.

No space given to list awards so no point in saying them

Suggestions? Comments?

[Quick Facts | University of Washington](http://admit.washington.edu/QuickFacts#achievement)

My HS didn’t even offer those AP classes. I wish I had taken them.

GPA might take a toll on your application here, even with the given AP and Honors classes. Your SAT is okay, but that alone probably can’t make up for your GPA.

To be honest, I think the only things that would get your foot in the door in admissions is through your extra curricular activities (looks like you were able to write thoughtful statements for those) and essays. Good luck!

Though I know nothing about college admissions in general…I’ve known some pretty mediocre students who got into the University of Washington. I mean, I don’t know what their application and transcript looked like, but I’m talking about people who didn’t really try at all in high school. In my very humble opinion, I’d say you have a pretty good chance.

I heard UW places high regard on the writing section. So if you believe everything in the writing section has been written to the best of your ability then I think UW may accept you.

If you are a good writer, I think that makes you a more attractive applicant. Sounds like you have some interesting stuff to offer. Who knows  Honestly I know a lot of in state kids with similar stats and less accomplished ec’s so you have a decent shot. No one knows for sure though, I would just encourage you to not let it worry you too much. Just enjoy life and if you don’t get in, you’re wanted somewhere else that’s all :)
