Hey everyone, I submitted my OOS application to USC and it is my first choice. I applied before the October deadline and I wanted to get perspective from you all. My GPA is a 3.982(weighted) and my SAT was a little low at 1110 (CR+M) but I am planning to take it again in October and will send my scores. My class rank is 9/225 and I am highly involved. Class president first African american NHS president Voulenteer hours, Mock Trial and Debate club. Also pleanty of work experience. This is driving me crazy.. Visiting USC in October.. Chances?

which USC?

for the one in Calif, it doesn’t matter that you are OOS…it is a private school. But, your SAT is too low.

The USC (South Carolina) might accept you, but it will be expensive as an OOS student. Will your parents pay for it?

What are your safety schools?

mom2 is much nicer than I am. you won’t get into southern california with an 1110. since you’re not likely to raise your SAT 800 points to USC levels, give yourself a couple weeks to mourn (I’m serious, it sucks to find this out) and then find schools that suit your new SAT or look for schools that don’t require standardized test scores where you can leverage your GPA and ECs. Immediately run the net price calculators on those schools and see if your family can afford them.

there are thousands of colleges and unis out there, many of them in southern california if that’s your gig. you can find a school that fits you. USC did not.

No… It was South Carolina! Thanks for being candid though…

You’ve made like 8 threads asking this question.

Anyway…now we know you’re talking about South Carolina. Your chances might be ok if you raise your scores a bit, BUT…it is an OOS school. It won’t give you aid.

How much will your parents pay? If they will not pay the $35k+ per year for you to South Carolina, then you won’t be able to go. You can only borrow $5,500 for frosh year.

I was going to close this since it’s not the chances forum but some good questions were asked.
