OOS Chances (Short)!

How am I looking with the following:

3.8UW/4.2W (Good public school)
29ACT
Decent ECs/Good essays.
From IL

Want to go McCombs. If I get denied from the business school, but accepted to the University how hard is it to transfer Soph. year?

Thank You for your help

Whats your rank and percentage?

70/786 Barely cracks the top 10%.

I thought that rule did not apply to OOS students...?

Yeah but they still take it into account. I don't think you will get McCombs. And you may or may not even get into the school. I am not sure if it is possible to take the ACT over, but if you can go for it. They put a lot of emphasis on test scores no matter where you are from.

Thanks for your help foxshox. Do you know how hard it is to transfer to McCombs? And if I do manage to transfer, will I be behind a year?

Thanks again

The minimum is 3.5, the mean is 3.7.

you'll probably be in

You'll probably in but not for McCombs. You can probably get into liberal arts. Which isn't a bad thing, a liberal arts degree from UT (especially in economics) is better than the business degree from a lot of other schools.

in at austin, but not guaranteed in for mccombs

You guys do realize he is from Illinois.

Wow. I was totally not expecting all of these accepted responses, even if it's just the liberal arts school.

What do you mean by do "you guys realize he is from Illinois?"

Is it better to be OOS from one state over another?

Anyways thanks for your responses and encouragement.

I think you are like 50/50 right now as far as your chances go, but they might have thought you were from Texas with top 10%. You are def. not guaranteed in( sorry to burst the bubble they created), but my instate friend had a 1440 SAT which is =31-32 ACT, and didn't even get summer program.

Don't worry. No bubble was bursted. I am actually pretty happy with 50/50 odds. I would have put myself at 40/60 tops. I am at 50/50 with some other schools, so hopefully a couple will work out for me. I misunderstood your statement earlier, I did not think that they thought of me as instate.

I'll definitely come down and check Austin out if I'm accepted!
