OOS chances?

GPA: 3.3 (2.75 freshman year, 3.0 sophmore year, 4.1 junior year)
ACT: 27 (taking again in October, hopefully can improve to 29-30)
10 ap/honors courses
good extracarriculars(varsity football, etc..)
I plan on majoring in either environmental sciences, biology, business/marketing, or economics. Can anyone chance me?

*also if I am taking the ACT in october will my application be considered incomplete until the scores are submitted? Should I submit the scores I already have?

This is tricky. Good grade trend and challenging courseload, but gpa is still on the low side of strong applicants. ACT is also kinda middle of the pack, but a few more points could look nice. It’s really going to depend on your essays (as it so often does) since your raw stats seem borderline to me, although compelling due to your significant upward trend and ambitious course selection. Unsure about how the test score situation works out, but this could be easily solved by calling admissions. I’d say you’re 50/50 right now based on this information - the essays will tip the scales one way or the other.

There’s no way you got a 4.1 junior year…

I don’t think UW cares about weighted GPA, which would mean that 4.1 is weighted. If it’s not weighted, then your school uses some strange GPA scale.

yea those are all weighted totals, junior year was a 3.8 uw… my cumulative unweighted gpa is a 3.25

I think the rigor of your courses could save you, but it depends. Were those AP courses relevant to the major you want to choose? If your test scores and GPA don’t rise kinda significantly, I wouldn’t suggest applying as a potential biology major. That’s incredibly competitive.

Wow riedyzac000, my stats are nearly identical to yours. 3.25 GPA, 10 ap/honors, and pretty good ECs, except I am in-state.

Don’t get your hopes down, I have seen people from OOS post chances with roughly the same stats (3.3gpa/good ECs) and get in. I am guessing because they had good essays. So just make sure to write the essays of your life for these. That’s what I’m doing. I hope we both get in. Good luck.

^^thanks I really hope I get in too. I will either apply for a finance/economics major or environmental studies, will this help me get in?

I’m pretty sure on the UW app it says that your choice of major won’t effect your chances of getting in, but I don’t know if that’s truly accurate… You should ask around.
