So I just got my scores back from the second SAT today and I figured I'd update to see my chances.

I'm sure you get this all the time but William and Mary is my first choice and I desperately want to attend! I am pretty below the average for your OOS applicants but I just want to go so bad!

OOS (PA)

GPA: 3.81/4.00

SATs: (630 CR, 710 M, 640 W) 1980 total. 1340/1600.

Work: Student Marketing Representative for FMFCU. 1 year.

Is there any way I could show my interest? I am so eager to attend, but I'm afraid I won't get in because I'm weaker on the stats side but if I get in I will definitely go!

Hi, are you applying ED? I see it’s your first choice, and W&M accepts about 50% in ED which is very helpful! However, if you’re applying ED you must recognize that if accepted you must pass over financial/scholarship aids/offers from other schools.

The only way to demonstrate your interest is in fact to apply Early Decision. W&M doesn’t track interest (i.e. we don’t count the number of times you visit or contact W&M) but applying early decision denotes W&M as your number one choice and we take that into consideration when reviewing early decision agreement.

If you decide to apply regular decision that’s fine too. I always tell students whether your stats are in range, below range, or above range, you’ll never know if you’re admitted unless you apply. Ranges are just that and we accept students above and below our ranges. Because we have no mimimum criteria for admission and because we review holistically, everyone has a chance of gaining admission. You should just apply with the proper expectations. We admit only about 32% of those who apply so if you’re not admitted, don’t take it as a reflection on you but as a reflection on the strength of our applicant pool.

Feel free to strengthen or enchance your application by taking advantage of the parts you can control (your essay, letters of recommendation, and any optional components you choose to complete).

Good luck!
