I'm from California, and I was wondering if I should put down my major as audiology when applying to UW. I've heard that OOS students could pay the same tuition as in-state students if their major is only offered OOS (through the Western Regional Graduate Program).

Honestly, I would just switch majors later on. I'd rather go into computer science, but I heard that their program is hard to get into. How is their CS program structured? I'm taking the AP CS test in May 2015, and if I get a 5, would I be exempt from their introductory CS class?

I’m not familiar with the program, but you may want to check with the financial aid or fiscal services offices about that. You should also bring up the potential of switching majors since that might affect tuition.

The department is hard to get into, but while interest increases, the number of graduating seats available is also increasing. You can take a few CSE classes that are open to non-majors while you’re not officially declared as a CSE student. Getting a 4 or 5 on the AP CS test will exempt you from the very first intro course, which is 142. You can learn more about the program here: http://www.cs.washington.edu/prospective_students/undergrad/ Also, there’s a ton of threads in here about the CSE program; check those out since there’s some great posts and advice from current students and alumni.
