I remember that my information session leader told the audience that W&M accepts 54% with Early Decision applicants, so it is very beneficial for one to apply using the Early Decision program. I was wondering if anyone knows the stats of Early Decision acceptances specifically for OOS applicants? Thanks!

We actually accept just under or just about 50% of the ED students who apply…54% is a bit off the mark.

We don’t generally break down ED admission rates for IS and OOS students because OOS students are a very small percentage of the ED pool so the numbers would be misleading.

If W&M is your first choice and your family is ok to give up the ability to compare financial aid/scholarship packages from other schools, it can only be to your benefit whether IS or OOS to apply ED.

Thank you so much! Also, could you tell me what the percent of waitlisted applicants is in ED?

We don’t actually waitlist during early decision. Those not admitted can be deferred (rolled over to the regular decision pool) or denied. We deny around 10% of those who apply ED and defer everyone else who is not admitted.

A small percentage of those who are deferred during ED can be waitlisted in regular decision.
