OOS financial needs met

For OOS how much of your financial need did UVM meet? With tuition at 55,000, my student recieved 20,000 in merit and has an EFC of 12,000 that parents cannot meet. Hoping to get 23, 000 in financial aid. Is that realistic? TY

Did you run the NPC for UVM? At least for us it was spot on accurate (and did predict merit based aid).

I didn’t think that UVM met full need for OOS students.

@DadTwoGirls ran the NPC. With the Cost at 55,000, merit of 20,000 and a UVM grant of 6,000 leaves roughly 33,000 to be financed. My question: will financial aid from the school cover any of this 33,000 or is that to be financed by student? If so, UVM is a no-go.

Cost is 59,000 including books etc.

@DadTwoGirls, He can take 5,500
In loan- which leaves ~ 27,000 not financed by the school. If parents can’t pay- then he probably out of luck.

It might be helpful for him to start a thread of his own. Since he has high stats posters here might be able to help him find something. If the college his mom works at will pay tuition somewhere else maybe he could get a grant to help cover room & board, but he may need to take a gap year. It would be more helpful if he posted directly so we could ask him questions.

Thank you
