I was accepted early action to the engineering school, and I am an OOS student. The cost of NCSU looks like it has risen, and even before my family could not afford it. My family's EFC is too high, and we cannot afford our EFC at all!

I am clueless about merit aid at NCSU, so is there anyone who can fill me in? I was invited and applied to UHP. I have a 29 ACT, 3.94 GPA, and great extracurriculars (I know my ACT is low!); I don't think my stats will get much merit though.

I'd love to attend NCSU, but I need my EFC to go down $10k (or receive lots of money from NCSU).

Does anyone know what kind of aid can be expected for OOS students with decent stats?

I’m in the same boat as you. I’m assuming you didn’t get Parks, and Chancellor’s has already been decided on. I know they do a university wide scholarship, but that’s for people who have 34 ACTs, lol. I think there’s a leadership scholarship available for second year students already in attendance. I got a letter saying I could apply for a scholarship worth $500-$5000 from my college, which I did. And you can always go on the website and apply for the no invitation college scholarships. But by the time they tell you if you got it, it will be well past May 1. So NCSU does not give out good scholarships. You’re probably better off going elsewhere if you want to save :(

You know you can always contact Scholarship & financial aid at NC State! I was in the same situation when I first came to NCSU and they def. helped! Trying calling them at 919.515.2421! Good Luck :)

@Wolfpacker1887 Thank you! I’ll definitely have to do that! I haven’t received my package yet, but hopefully I will soon. If you don’t mind me asking, what exactly was your financial package. Did they include loans in it automatically? Also, did they help by giving more loans, work study, grants, or something else?

I know if my initial package doesn’t include loans, then NCSU is in reach!
