-My most important EC is Civil Air Patrol (CAP) the United States Air Force Auxiliary
- almost a cadet officer=big deal
-Senior staff position at home squadron
-NCO of the year for Southeastern NY- NCO of the year for squadron
-Cadet of the quarter twice at squadron
-On 2nd place color guard team for SE NY
-Personally had the highest written test score
-On the Cadet Advisory Council for Southeastern New York for 1 year
-Been in countless parades, conducted many ceremonies, went to the prison to donate toys for the inmates’ children, and many other community service activities. Well over 200 hrs of community service.
-A founding member of my squadron honor guard (spinning and throwing fake rifles (like Cadet Kelly- yes, you know the Disney movie I’m talking about))
One of the only CAP honor guards in NY State-do 10 min routines, did casket duty at a funeral

Summer Activities:
Also in CAP I attended and encampment in New Jersey (where I pretend I am really in the military) during my freshman to sophomore summer. CAP

The next Summer I went to the Regional Cadet Leadership Academy in Maryland where I was taught leadership theory, and I had to present several speeches (won speech contest within my small group of 10 people), give a lecture, and write many essays. CAP

This past summer I was on the staff at the NY encampment. I was on the standards and evaluations team (aka inspector of uniforms and bunks- also wrote and administered tests) CAP

This past August I interned for my congress woman in DC. Did office work and gave Capitol tours, which I loves (I am such a history nerd)

Also this past February I went to Presidential Classroom Scholars Program (which is what made me want to go to Georgetown) Received an A+ on optional paper for one hour for UVA credit.

I want to be in Air Force ROTC. Does that help me in any way with college admissions?

So here are my schools
Essays: Absolutely loved them-my AP eng teacher any school would take me based on my essays
Recs;
-Had my APUSH teacher write it ( he is an alumnus). This was my favorite class and one of my favorite teachersw
-CAP Senior member whom I know really well and has seen me grow so much
-One from my congresswoman saying how great an intern I was in DC

CAN I GET INTO UVA? Tell me even if it is negative.

Also can you rate my chances at:
Cornell (Have legacy much within my family)
Emory
Vanderbilt
Johns Hopkins
University of MD (both parent alumni)
American

Thanks so much. Happy Holidays!

you're aiming for very tough schools

No one is going to be able to tell you whether you'd be able to "get in" because these schools are competitive for everyone.

but your stats tell me that you have a pretty good chance.

Your SAT scores are kinda low but your ACT score looks a lot better and will balance out the borderline SAT I.

Good luck! :)

ps: My friend got in ED UVA.. her stats are the following, if that helps. (i'm not specifically sure about her EC's, but she was very comeptitive.)

SAT: 2250, 1420/1600
SAT I: Chinese 800, US Hist: 750, Math II: 770, Physics: 720
Unweighted GPA: 3.8, weighted: 4.25

She took 1 AP in 10th, 4 AP's in 11th, and 3 AP's this year

bump bump bump

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmp!

You're fine, don't worry 'bout it. You should get accepted into most, if not all of these.

UVA- reach (if you were in state, you would almost definitely get in)
Cornell-match
Emory-match/slight safety
Vandy-match
Johns Hopkins-reach
UMD-safety
American-safety

bump bump bump

i'm not sure you want to hear this... but...

the jury says IN to UVA haha, i hope to see you there if i get in man. Check back in April

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuump

bump bump bump

The rigor of your courseload and your standardized test scores are below average at UVA, Hopkins and Cornell. However your strong extra curriculars should help to balance out your application. I would say that those three are reaches with Cornell being the biggest and Hopkins the slightest. The rest of the schools are matches or safeties.

I only listed my senior courseload.

Last year was
APUSH-A+
AP Micro-A+
AP Spanish I (two year course) A
Honors Chemistry-A
Honors English- A
Math B- A
Wind Ensemble-A
