Does anyone know whether OOSers are eligible for (and likely to receive) merit scholarships at W&M?

OOS students are definitely eligible and receive the merit scholarships. You should know, however, that there is not much in the way of merit scholarships at W&M. There is the Monroe Scholars program, which is roughly the top 10% of attending students, but it only provides research money, not tuition assistance.

There are also the Murray Scholars, but there are only 4 of these each year. It covers full tuition and room/board for Virginia residents, and that amount of money towards the cost for OOS students. As you can imagine, since there are only 4, these are extremely difficult to get.

Thank you for your reply, Soccerguy315. Very disappointing though.

Even though merit-based scholarships are not plentiful at W&M the good news is that everyone who applies for admission is considered for all merit-based scholarships available and out-of-state students are just as likely to receive them as in-state students.

Anyone can also apply for need-based aid by completing the FAFSA by Feb. 15

Are there scholarships in addition to Murray and Monroe?

this is the W&M page about their scholarship opportunities

DD received a grant from them but I can’t remember what it was called. We don’t qualify for any need-based ones. We ended up moving in-state and the grant was taken away since she was then an in-state student.
