OOS minimum transfer requirements?

Does anyone know? I know UW has much higher standards for OOS admission than they do for in-state. Does it get even higher for transfers?

These are my stats, i'm a CA resident at the moment. If anyone cares to chance me, I'd appreciate it. However, my background is a bit messy since I left my first college in the middle of a semester because of an ED, I have a transcript with just a W on it, and I'm currently at a CC.

HS GPA: 3.67
College cum GPA: 3.65 (3.6-ish at both schools)
SAT: 1280/ 1860 (best single sitting)
200 hours volunteering
Good essay

If you were an in state, I’d say your chances are high. I know UW favors in state over OOS. No disadvantage for being a transfer student. 30% of the total seats are filled with transfer students. Good luck.

Thanks, bgbinc. At this point, UW might have dropped to the bottom of my list anyway since they don’t give grants to OOS students . . . and they don’t send out transfer acceptance letters until June.

30% are reserved for in-state Washington community college transfer students

Travelgirl, too bad I’m not a Washington CC transfer. Actually, since they have this policy, it makes it more difficult for me to be admitted since it fills up spaces with students that might have lower credentials than I do.

I’ve heard of OOS students being told that they don’t meet the requirements for OOS admittance, so it’s obviously more difficult than in-state. I’m just curious as to how much more difficult.

ETA: Again, though, it seems like UW Seattle has become my last-ditch hope in the case that 3 other schools don’t take me. One of those is UW Bothell, which has lower admission requirements and gives grants/ scholarships/ work-study to OOS students. Apparently, they let your know about decisions pretty quick, too.

speakingez- you are right on all points. As far as how much more difficult- well that’s speculation, no one (except admissions people) really knows.

UW bothell (and tacoma) don’t have the reputation of UW seattle. That doesn’t necessarily mean bad however. I have a friend that was denied Seattle and got into Bothell…he used that to eventually transfer to uw-seattle (he’s still working on it…) who knows if he’ll be successful.
