Hey,
Quick Question. Im an out of state student looking to apply to UNC and UVA. Will applying early action give me an advantage over regular decision? Just fyi, I am within range for stats for both schools. I have a 3.85 and 35 ACT (which puts me well in the upper quartile). These colleges tell me that I won’t be disadvantaged by applying regular, but does this logic apply to OOS students as well…
What is your class rank? Does your school have Naviance? Not sure about UVA but UNCs EA deadline passed- did you apply?
@twogirls no i did not apply to UNc…I am within the top 5-6%…hopefully it’ll go up at the end of the term. My school’s Naviance show people in my range that have applied early action and regular to UVA/UNC and have gotten in. I am in 12 AP’s, and have (in my opinion) pretty good ECs
Well UNC will be regular decision- not sure about UVA. I do not think that anybody can answer your question. Put together the strongest application that you can and focus on your essays. You seem to be in the range so don’t worry about applying RD versus EA. Good luck!
UVA says very very very clearly that there is zero qualitative difference in standards applied between EA and RD. No advantage or disadvantage. The EA pool tends to be a little stronger than RD due to self-selection. Since it is made up of kids who don’t feel the need for another semester of grades or round of standardized tests to improve their application.
So the only difference is you hear sooner. If you are ready to go, apply EA.
