Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread! I received my gold letter today and was named a Purple and Gold Scholar  Congrats to all!

Does anybody know if being named a Purple and Gold Scholar has any other advantages besides receiving the money?

None, aside from an extra dose of motivation to maintain your good academic standing at all times.

San Diego, CA. $3k a year.

Got the gold envelope today in SoCal as a Purple and Gold Scholar! $7500/yr. 3.97 gpa & 30 act
applied to Comp Sci, but don’t think I got in as Direct Admit

I have been accepted but I have not received the golden envelope yet. Does anyone know if you can locate on my UW website their purple/gold scholarship amount?

@studywiki‌ I don’t think so, I think you just have to wait for the letter.

Can you only be a Purple & Gold scholar if you submitted the FAFSA? I just realized I didn’t select UW as a school when i did the FAFSA. I’ve gotten my acceptance letter but not the packet yet

Purple and Gold ($6500 per year) from Hawaii
2180 SAT
3.9 Unweighted GPA

My son is Purple and Gold Scholar, 7500/yr. Pennsylvania, 4.0 UW, 4.5 W. 2280 SAT

@buffysummerz‌ No, FAFSA is not required. The admissions people choose who they want to give the scholarship to, and if you get it, you will be notified in the acceptance letter.

Did anyone receive Purple and Gold scholarships in their gold acceptance envelopes this year (2016)?
Can I assume if there was nothing mentioned, there is no merit aid offered?
