OOS Question

If you pay out of state tution the first year of college and you live on campus for the first year, do you later pay in state tution or out of state for the last 3 years?

It all depends on the school. Some do, most don’t. My advice is to look it up on their website and email the office of financial aid.

Most schools will stick you with OOS for the subsequent three years. I haven’t heard of any that give you the in-state rate.

I do not know of ANY school that will give you in-state credit after attending school for a year. As far as I know ALL schools specifically exclude time in school.

The one year period is usually one year BEFORE matriculating at an educational institution. It’s not an arbitrary rule - it’s a means of trying to discern who is a taxpaying resident of a state vs. someone who has not contributed to the the funding base for the state university system.
