OOS RD chances?

I'm a white PA female. I got rejected (well, deferred, but. . . basically rejected) ED at William and Mary. I'm v. upset and now I have no clue what my odds are at UVA. Being OOS sucks.

I was the student in our school nominated for Jefferson Scholars, if that means anything at all.

Anyway, anyone have an idea?

Basics:
SAT: 2240 (Math 640, Writing 800, CR 800)
SAT II: Literature 760, US History 620
Rank: 4/205
GPA: 4.0

Classes:
-All honors/APs
-4 APs
-Four college courses senior year, which will get me 12 credits. I'm one of seven students chosen for this.
-Hardest possible workload.

Extracirriculars:
CSC (10, 11, 12)
Peer Mediation, certified (11, 12)
NHS (11, 12; current President)
Soccer (9, 10)
Tennis (11, 12)
Rugby (11, 12)

Randoms:
-National Merit Commended Student
-Scholarship to leadership camp this summer (I went)
-Writing's my strong suit; essay good -- good recs, too (both of these are so subjective though, so whatever)
-Magna cum laude on National Latin Exam
-Work 20 hr/wk

honestly? i'd say UVA is a definently a reach...overall, you're a strong applicant, but because UVA maintains 1/3 OOS, you're competing against kids with stronger ECs, harder courseloads, and better SAT math scores...i wouldn't count on getting in, but i wouldn't not apply either, but definently have other schools that you know you can get into

I heard its less than 1/3 OOS; when I visited they said that Virginia law only allows 30% OOS max.

It's 65% in-state and 35% out of state. If you write some great essays then you should get in. Since you were chosen as a Jefferson Scholar nominee for your school you definitely have an advantage. Good luck.

Excellent shot. Good luck.

Thanks for your replies so far. I thought my essays were well-written, but again, that's so subjective, and it always cracks me up when posters are like, "Essays are great! Unbelievable, sure to give me an edge!"

And shoebox10, hey, thanks for being honest. I am applying to other schools, and I'm telling myself that UVA probably won't happen.

hey i go to an all girls catholic school in pa, and i got deferred from ED at william and mary too, but i didn't apply to uva. my sister is a senior at william and mary and she said like no one got in out of state ED, good luck with uva, but its soooo hard out of state unless your like recruited for a sport or something

oh yeah i dont know about uva, but i know that william and mary is only 18% out of state, so im guessing uva has to be pretty similiar

65% MINIMUM instate. Im sure they accept more than that.

yeah, i wasnt trying to be brutle, but its soooo difficult to do chances for OOS kids (unless they have a 2.5 and 1000 haha, then we definently know) because theres something that gets some in, but not others...you're a strong applicant, so i wouldnt give up hope at all...i'd just make sure you have other schools, thats all im saying, because unfotuently (for you atleast, im instate applying for transfer so i like it) UVA keeps a strong 2/3 IS
good luck though! you wernt rejected, which means you still have a chance!
