OOS SAT scores

hey everyone

my best friend is applying to North Carolina, and I was just wondering if UNC came out with an OOS SAT median score set?,,,

She has a 670 math and a 660 critical reading.... will she be ok?

just wondering... thanks guys

i would like to know this as well, good question.

yea me too

SAT
98.6% reported at least one SAT I score
Average SAT score (Critical Reading + Mathematics) was 1302
Middle 50% scored between 1210 and 1400

Middle 50% ranges for the three subscores:
Critical Reading: 600–700
Mathematics: 610–700
Writing: 590–690

<a href="http://admissions.unc.edu/academics/factsandfigures.htm%5B/url%5D">http://admissions.unc.edu/academics/factsandfigures.htm</a></p>

The most competitive OOS applicants score in the top-25% of these figures, or above a 1400. So, she's not out of the running by any means, but she is fighting an uphill battle, so to speak.

vc08 hit it on the head. Those scores aren't going to kill her, but they aren't going to blow the admissions office away.

As a North Carolinian, I think the 82% rule is a little sketchy. For those unfamiliar, NC state law mandates that 82% of UNC's freshman class come from NC. Tell your friend that if she does get rejected, she can transfer. Because the 82% rule does not apply to transfer admissions, it is much easier to get in as a transfer than as an OOS freshman. I was told this by an admissions counselor at UNC.

i have an 1380 with a 4.0 UW rank 3/500 and 13 aps with awesome leadershp, do u think my otherstuff can maybe bypass my lackluster sat score to get me in??

No one can you tell for sure. Just apply and hope for the best, there's really nothing you can do between now and Nov. 1st to really improve your chances except for writing some kickass essays.

1380 isn't a lackluster SAT score. I don't know where you're from, but that can get you in from anywhere. I've heard of plenty of people getting in with that kind of SAT, in and out of state. I had a 1400 and got a scholarship. Stress about the ESSAY, not the SAT.
