My son just got accepted for the Summer term. We are OOS, so we would like to register for the last orientation days so he can move into his dorm room right after orientation. I have a couple questions Im hoping someone can answer for me:

Will the classes he needs to register for be already filled up by then since we will be registering on the last day? He is a Mechanical Engineer major.

Will he have to move his dorm things OUT when the Summer term ends, store them somewhere, and then move back in again when the Fall term starts, or do they let you keep your things in the room during the 2 weeks break before fall semester?

Will he get the same dorm room again for the fall term that he had in the Summer?

is there a meal plan for the Summer Term?

hey ok so im not oos but i am doing summer as well.
1)the chances of him getting his top choice classes will be reduceded because he is last to register. so you might want to pick a closer orientation date.
2)unless he is living in the towers he will have to move his stuff
3)again unless he is living in the towers prob not. he might be in the same dorm but not the same room.
4)yes there is. they are at a reducded price you can either get 15 meals a week or an unlimited amount of meals. the prices are on the website.

They leave spaces available in all classes for each orientation section. While your son may not get each of the classes that he wants, he will be registering for both summer and fall at the same time, so he will have a jump on his fall registration and he will only be taking 2 summer classes, both of which will be Gen Ed classes.

& 3. He will have to move his things out of his summer dorm and put them in storage (no the school does not supply storage). We are from OOS also, and rented a storage space at Public Storage for the month. It is very inconvenient. The only way you do not have to move out is if your son is in the Towers and stays in the same apartment or is LUCKY enough to get the same room assignment summer to fall…very unlikely. Word of advice, if you do not know someone in the area who will store you son’s belongings, do not wait until the end of summer session to rent a storage unit, they will be all gone! unless you are willing to go far from campus. Last summer we actually rented one in June for the whole summer just so we would have it for the 2 weeks between summer session and fall session. This year, my daughter is renting one at the end of March so that she and her friends are sure to get one for the summer (most of her friends are from OOS).

There is a meal plan for the summer term. There are various choices from unlimited to a certain number of meals per week. You can also not buy a meal plan and pay as you go with dining dollars or cash.
