Hey, I’m an OOS applicant from KS and I’m wondering what my chances of getting into UCLA and UCB for fall 2015. I chose philosophy as my intended major if that is taken into consideration at all. I took 10 honors courses and 6 AP courses (all offered at my hs). Some more info…
UC GPA - 3.78
ACT - 35
EC’s -
Student Council 2 years, junior and senior class president
Policy Debate 3 years, placed at state 3 years and qualified to nationals twice
Played football my freshman year and coached community football my sophomore year
Played baseball freshman and sophomore year, summer and school league
Acted in several plays, musicals, and one-acts throughout high school
Plenty of community service, church and community engagement
If anyone wants to leave feedback on chances of getting into Northwestern as well please do. I should have included that in the OP my bad
Your gpa is low for both these UC’s, UCB’s average GPA is around 4.18 i think. Your ACT score might help you.

UCB/UCLA: Low Reach/High Match
ACT is very competitive but GPA not so much. Much will depend upon on how your essays are received. Good Luck and can you afford the $55K/ year price tag?
Thanks and yeah luckily I am fortunate that I can
But I also feel like the GPA isn’t “competitive” necessarily because I cant inflate my GPA by taking 20+ UC approved courses.
UCLA: high match
Northwestern: low reach
UCB: somewhere in between the previous two
I think that your stats are really good. Great ACT, great GPA, the only thing I would say is lakcing is more ECs. If you had 2 or 3 more ECs, you would be 100% into any of those colleges, I would say. Right now, I think you’re in UCLA, PROBABLY Berkeley as well. Good luck!!
Chance me for UW Madison please!

Any more feedback?
UCLA - 40%
Northwestern - 30% chances
UC Berkeley - 25% chances
Berkeley is quite tough for international applicants – only about 10% are admitted, and seeing that applicants from outside the US are increasing year after year at Berkeley, the admit rate would most likely drop further this year, and beyond. Furthermore, your GPA is below Berkeley’s average, and Berkeley is notoriously harsh to applicants with GPA below 3.9 (UC GPA).
Bump. I’m oos not international. Things I’d like to add for EC stuff -
Took a school sponsored trip to Europe for two weeks
State Model UN 3 years. Top delegate in my council and 2nd delegate overall my junior year
4 years of Spanish and apart of both Spanish club and National Spanish honor society
Foreign Extemp, placing at many local tournaments
is that your UC UW GPA?
What’s your UC W GPA capped and uncapped? What’s your rank?
Idk these things
Then that would change your chances a bit, in my opinion.
UCLA - 40% chances
Northwestern - 30% chances
UC Berkeley - 30% chances
