How likely is it to get admitted with a 4.0, IGETC completed, pre reqs completed (Calc 1, 2 & 3, linear alg, differential equations, computer science (java), gen chem 1 & 2, gen bio, and Uni physics mechanics and electricity and magnetism, etc.), and doing community service as some of the extra curricula. Other extra curricula is extensive pre professional dance training and dance shows, chamber singers 4 years of high school, many musicals/concerts, voice lessons 3 years, gymnastics 2 years.

…

Are you human? O.O

Nah he/she is a robot

yes im being serious. the dance stuff was soph year in high school thru fresh year of college and the singing stuff was freshmen thru senior year. but now as a sophomore in college ill b doing community service cuz i know colleges like it and I hurt my ankle and cant dance now. But I rly want to get into UCLA, if not Berkeley.

the reason im asking how likely is because im an out of state community college transfer.

Good god. I thought your post was a joke.

Um I am going to go ahead and speculate that you have a shot.

Kinda reminds me of <a href=“Redirect Notice”>Redirect Notice;

haha that made me laugh. I’m sorry, I do not mean to be that way. But because of my current situation I have to be anal about making sure I get accepted. Especially because I know the transfer acceptance rate to UCs is very low for community colleges outside of california.

How did you complete the IGETC from OOS?

Your probably good, the only problem I can see is if your major has a very specific pre req that you couldn’t get done in time( or your school doesn’t have it) .

well what I did was I checked a bunch of different california schools on the IGTEC assist website thing that tells you all of the pre reqs you have to do for your majors and I put in the different UCs I want to transfer in and all the classes are exactly the same as the classes I mentioned I will have completed. and the IGTEC (non-major pre reqs) can be found online. and yeah I will be able to finish them all by the end of spring simester before I would be transferring which they say is fine.

You are mistakened d3r3k7. The IGETC program is ONLY for California CC. It is an agreement between the UCs and the CCCs to waive the need to take general courses to fulfill their [the UCs] breadth requirement. There is a form that is filled out by the administration at the CC and is sent to the undergraduate admissions of the UC. The IGETC program will satisfy the breadth requirements at the UC institution. If you do not have a FULL IGETC (partial IGETCs can be issued) then you will be required to enroll in general courses to fulfill the remaining breadth requirements. And since you are OOS you have to fulfill the breadth requirements, and lower division courses for your major to be competitive (or even considered) at UCLA or CAL. Also, each UC has its own breadth requirements; it is ONLY under the IGETC/TAG program that the breadth requirements are the same for the UCs.

I even saw and it said if you are from an out of state school, just chose any college from the list to get an idea of what classes you need to be taking…and even if im out of state for the IGETC…im still taking all the classes they would require from me if i was in state…its not like bcuz im out of state they’re going to require different classes to transfer than what they require in state people to take.

You can take the same classes, no problem. But a California Community College has to validate your IGETC. Only California Community Colleges can certify IGETC curriculum. And UCs require the certification form if you said you had IGETC on your record. So technically “having IGETC” means you have it AND have it certified by your college. So, there is no way for you to have IGETC from out of state, but if you take similar classes you will have a really good idea of what will transfer over. The stuff it said about OOS transfers meant that IF you are transferring from an out of state CC to CALIFORNIA CC, the classes can be used in IGETC if they are basically the same class. But IGETC is only for people at California Community Colleges. If you want it, you’d have to transfer to a CCC before you transfer to a UC.

I think you’re missing the point Der3k7. What they’re trying to say is that only California Community Colleges can certify an IGETC Certification.

Comparing and taking classes to those listed on the IGETC should give you a general idea what you need to take but you should check the general education breadth requirements of each school just in case there are some extra courses you need to take or some that you don’t need to take at all that you would usually need to through IGETC.

UCI: [University of California, Irvine - Requirements for a Bachelor’s Degree](<a href=“UCI General Catalogue Archives”>UCI General Catalogue Archives)

etc…

O well then what do the people that have successfully transfered to UCs from OOS community colleges done?

D3r3k, I transferred from OOS a few years ago, so I have some knowledge and experience of the process. I am not trying to discourage you or anything. I don’t want you to get boned because of some misconception.

The OOS transfer rate to the UCs is low (this is based on previous years, I can’t quite remember the exact figures but if I remember correctly it was around 1-2%). However, UCLA has been accepting more OOS students last year. Therefore, you might have a better chance at getting in. Despite the low rate of acceptance for OOS transfer students, you should still apply, but also apply to a few back up schools.

The IGETC list of requirements is a good starting place to get a general idea of what classes to take. But ultimately, you have to look at the UCs list of requirements to ensure that you have completed the necessary requirements. You should go to each UCs website and look at their general breadth requirements sheet and compare it to what you have taken already, because each UC is different in terms of general requirements (do not be mistaken, they are not drastically different).

yeah I am aware the chances are low, thats why I made this thread, haha. Also because I may learn something I did not know! And okay, I will do that. Is that all you had to do to get in? and do you mind me asking what your stats were when you were accepted?

@ all the people that explained IGETC certification

lol thanks guys. I literally just had this conversation with an OOS transfer last week and it was exhausting to try explaining it to them.

There is a lot more. That is just the starting point. Unbeknownst to me, I got screwed over before I even applied. My GPA was 3.9; I was in student government at my CC; I was working full time; I was a board member of a honors society; there was some other extracurricular stuff, but I can’t remember what I put down now. Unfortunately, I did not get accepted to UCLA or CAL, but was accepted by other UCs.
