OOS UCLA Transfer

well whats everything I have to do? Everything on all their websites just says make sure you finish IGETC and your pre reqs.

1) General Education Breadth Requirements for the UCs you want to apply to. You’ll have to check these yourself. I even gave you links to two of them.

2) Pre-requisites specific to your major.

3) Make sure you complete adequate units to be eligible to transfer.

I mean honestly, all the information is out there - every UC has a very specific and well defined set of requirements for transfer. You just have to go and check it out.

I’ll even give you a freebie:

UCLA Transfer Guide: [Transfer Admission Guide - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/tradms.htm)

UCLA General Education: http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/ge/GETable.pdf

The thing you have to realize is that schools like UCLA and UCB are still STATE funded public schools and they are directly aligned with the CSU and CCC system so it’s much easier to figure out how to best prepare yourself for transfer between these. This is why they prioritize CCC students in the first place. You need to contact an admissions representative at each UC and see what they recommend you take in regards to your particular CC and what will be transferable. Generally, you’ll probably be fine with your pre-reqs since they are about the same across the country but make sure you’re taking the higher level of classes like Physics. General education is all dependent on the school you go to but some things can be fulfilled for all of them. I’m sure you kind of understand this from the IGETC but…

a year of English,
a Polysci Intro to Government class and an American History (I or II) class to fulfill the American Institutions UC requirement
a class in some sort of Arts dept (music, art, dance, photography)
a class in Humanities (history, language, religion, philosophy)
an additional class in either Art or Humanities
3 classes in Social Sciences (econ, psych, soc, anthro, hist, polysci, etc)
a full college year of a Language (can be fulfilled in HS)

It’s definitely possible to transfer from OOS and you’re probably pretty decently prepared from fulfilling IGETC comparable classes, BUT just remember that some of your classes might not transfer and you’ll end up having to complete additional gen-ed if you get in. When you apply, they will look into what of your classes are transferable anyway so there’s nothing you can really do to know for sure but apply and wait it out. I do think you have a good chance provided you complete all that plus any additional classes the UCs recommend for the rest of your gen ed. Make sure you maintain a high GPA and that you talk to admissions. Remember that other students with slightly worse stats might be accepted over you just because you’re OOS.
