OOS w/Aid Suggestions

Hey everyone! I'm a Florida resident, but I'm looking for a chance to escape this hot and humid state.

Stats:
-Female, asian, first generation
-About 1950 SAT (retaking Oct) Around 700 CR/700 M
No ACTs, but taking it Oct. Practice scores vary.
-So-so ECs. Some NHS and volunteering. No leadership positions.
-EFC 0 (QuickEFC calc) Income <30k for 4, should be 0 EFC, if not very close.
-I'm interested in the sciences, but who knows what I will major in? I feel that I might be interested in going into medicine, but I'm not absolutely sure at this point.
-I prefer small to medium colleges, just nothing huge like that 30kish that occupy UF.
I don't really care if it's a LAC or not since I can't really make up my mind on that.
-Not religiously affiliated. It's okay if it's more of on the back burner and open-minded.

I am applying to various FL colleges like FSU, UF, UNF, etc., but I feel the need for a change in environment. Maybe it's the weather or maybe it's my parents. I'm not sure, but I can still be happy even if I don't manage to find some cooler weather to live in.

I obviously will need schools that offer generous aid and won't cripple me with debt.
I'm interested in the east coast and the north, but certainly not in the middle of nowhere like Utah. Cali is nice, but I think I heard that they don't give much aid out to OOS applicants.

I looked at the QuestBridge program and I wish I had known about it sooner, but the deadline is coming up too quickly for me.

Here is my list so far:
U of Alabama
Tulane Uni

Can anyone please help me by suggesting some safeties, matches, or reaches to look into?
Oh and does anyone have an idea of the aid given for Florida in-state applicants for schools in Fl?
Thanks!

Mount Holyoke

Oh, forgot some vital information, haha.
3.7 unweighted GPA and top 11% of a class of 700.

Thanks mom2collegekids. I’ve been looking at some women colleges, but I wasn’t completely sure about applying.

What is your GPA?

If you’re trying to escape hot and humid, you might want to rethink Tulane…

Looks like we cross posted! You have good stats but (as you know) it would be helpful for you to get your scores up to increase your chances of aid.

I like your Alabama and Tulane selections. What about Elon, Bradley or Truman State? You do have some great choices in-state though. They may be hard to beat money wise.

tulane won’t give you a lot of aid. don’t expect to get anything more than 10-20k

well what are you planning on majoring in?

some universities i know that give great aid is:
USC, Santa Clara U (Cali), American University, University of Michigan (maybe…?) and ivy leagues give great financial aid too. they’re actually known for giving the most amazing financial aid with the least amount of loans :)

UMich does not give good aid. I don’t know where you got that. Denison gives pretty good aid (both FA and merit).

I’m not sure what major I want to go into, but right now it’s most likely one of the sciences. I’ll check out some of the lower tiered Ivys. I’ll probably end up stuck in Florida, but I still want to cast out some applications so that my heart will rest in peace knowing that I couldn’t get good enough OOS offers.

I’m retaking the sat and act one more time, but I doubt that it will go any higher than that. I’ll look into your suggestions, thanks.

???

American and UMich (OOS) do not give great aid.

And this students stats are not ivy-quality.

Even the lower tier ivies would expect scores in the 2200+

If this student can get a 1400+ M+CR, there are schools that would give large merit.

Haha, very true. A hell of a reach, but I’ll try to bump up that SAT score. Oh well, Florida isn’t all that bad for me.
