Oos

I'm wondering exactly how much this effects admissions. Does anyone know how much more stringently they examine out of state applicants?

2/3 of all of UVA’s students come from the state of Virginia…that should give you an idea.

of those who apply from out of state, fewer accept, so the acceptance percentage of OOS students into the university isn’t THAT much lower, but it is a bit lower for out of state (though I know some OOS students whose scores were just average).

You can see statistics going back to the 1980s on the UVa website. Here’s a good place to start, though: [Notes from Peabody: The UVA Application Process: Statistics for the Class of 2014](Notes from Peabody: The UVA Application Process: Statistics for the Class of 2014)

Thanks everyone! Almost all the schools I’m interested are out of state, so this is great!
