Open curriculum

Can someone explain the open curriculum to me? I’ve read about it on various sites but still am not entirely clear. Does it literally mean that there are no required courses and no sections of classes you have to take (like you don’t have to a humanities class, a science class, et cetera)?

Thanks in advance for any info! :)

This thread has about the best explanation you will find.

Thanks so much! I’ll definitely read that. :)

IMO, the open curriculum is the best thing going for Brown.

Brown thinks so too.

I’m writing a research paper on open curriculum and it’s been frustrating thus far.
Does anyone have a suggestion on where to gather information? Aside from College Confidential, I have had no success. I need one print source!
Thank you.

Try the Brown Daily Herald website.

I know there is more because I’ve seen them. Modest can point you in the right direction I’m sure.

Open Curriculum at Brown or in general?

For information on Open Curriculum in general, check out the Teagle Group study which Brown was a part of. Just type Teagle Group + open curriculum or Teagle Study + Open Curriculum to find it. If you want more Brown specific information, I can point you to a few sources, especially if you’re a current student here.
